The January Sales have kicked off already here in the UK, and it's only November!
Many of the big high street names have started their sales already. So if you need to do some Christmas shopping, now could be the right time.
But if you don't need to get something in time for Christmas, you could hang on just a bit longer. Prices typically get reduced from the 26th December, and could go down even further starting in the beginning of January if the last few years are anything to go by.
Many shops are really feeling the pinch at the moment. The financial crisis is drying up sales, meaning that stores run a very real risk of not meeting their sales quotas. That means that you are in a fantastic position to bargain. So even though prices have been marked down already, there's no reason that you can't ask for them to be reduced even further, or ask for a special deal if you buy more than one of a product. Normally, you wouldn't be able to get special deals by talking to one of the cashiers, though. You'll need to speak to a manager or someone who has the authority to make a decision.
It's worth a try, and as the old saying goes "nothing ventured, nothing gained".
